“At the moment we do have a waiting list for new patients so we could add details onto our list. The risk of contracting an airborne infection is very low during a new patient consultation. This is due to the fact that we would not be creating an aerosol during an examination so this would be classed as a ‘non aerosol generating procedure’. However we do have FFP2/3 masks within the practice as well as air filters which we could use to make this person feel more at ease.”
A very positive response, full reply included just to make people aware of the lack of understanding around masking so you can be ready for that chat if needed. Clearly referencing the AGP is irrelevant, this is where a dentist might need protection but as patients we aren’t trying to protect ourselves from our own breathed out air!
