For peace of mind our practice was refurbished a few years ago and all of our surgeries were fitted with air ventilation systems designed to circulate air very efficiently. During Covid times this meant that we could significantly reduce the amount of fallow time after an aerosol generating procedure as it took the ‘bad’ air out much faster. In the clinical environment, we would be willing to wear FFp3 masks to put you at ease. We would be unable to fulfill this requirement in our reception area though therefore would recommend that your friend, if able to, wears such a mask to protect themselves which can then be removed in the clinical environment once our clinical team have donned theirs (if that makes sense?). We are a 5 surgery practice so the reception area can get busy however we can reduce the risk in the reception area by offering an appointment time where there is less footfall and less chance of delays in the clinic. I would suggest the first appointment of the day or the first appointment after lunch may be better suited.
